More movie Cinemas? Whoa.

We already have a 24 screen movie cinema... and 14 screens in downtown. Plus all those other ones. I mean even Rio Rancho will have two of their own here soon.

No more Movie cinemas. More creative retail maybe.

Agreed...

Rio Rancho had a "Movie Cinema" years ago, it went out of business, and we now have another new one, with another on the way...

Creative retail? Not sure what that would include. What happened to bowling alleys in this country?

They're alive and well. They've just moved around a bit. Santa Ana and Isleta both have massive bowling centers.

Zoid:

Regarding bowling alley... Never mind... I guess the Santa Ana one is big enough for the entire area... Is that the "Big Box" effect which also killed "Ma ad Pa" 10 lane bowling alley's with 3 pin ball machines and a local place to hang out at?

Since I was born here, I've been aware of one bowling alley to close without springing back up (San Pedro & Menaul) and two to open (the aforementioned casino ones).

I don't remember Albuquerque ever having tiny bowling alleys. Perhaps the old Sadie's was tiny?

Albuquerque metro hasn't gained bowling lanes as fast as it's gained people, but both have grown.

"Mom and Pop" alleys don't work because it costs just as much to man a 10-lane facility as a 24-lane facility, and leagues (the bread and butter of any bowling alley) typically require more dedicated space.

The tides have not turned at the voter level - democrats still hold the same strong majority among registered voters that they always have, but at the leadership level, repubs are in charge. Which is why your comments puzzled me.

The mayor and the city council are non-partisan positions, so it really isn't valid to speak of "dividing on party lines". I am very annoyed that the media has not pointed this out and tried to make the most recent mayor's race partisan. That is probably why it seems odd.

This thread keeps branching off...is there any way to make it an ongoing poll?? Maybe give each voter 5 votes to place among the 30 suggestions?

My wish would be for safe drivers, something in short supply here, and higher pay for sub=management jobs esp. in local government so people can afford to live decently.
