That's awesome. Gotta say, Albuquerque altitude (and dry air) has turned me into a pretty good runner. When I was visiting my parents in the midwest a few months ago I was astonished at how far I could go...

I can see how this would be a great area to train.

New Mexico is known internationally as a great training location, the high altitude and mild, dry weather are ideal. Inspiring story!

UNM's cross country and track programs have been nationally ranked and nationally competitive for several years now. Both are full of All-Americans.

One of the more famous training stories is that Paula Radcliffe spent several months here sharpening before her (successful) run at the women's marathon world championships in 2005.

Her world record set in 2003 was 2:15, btw. Or, about 5:10 per mile.
