I have only been to Alb once waiting to catch a bus to El Paso.
I was not impressed, but was not there long enough to discover anything. I am considering a move there for better medical care and healthier food. The grocery stores here [El Paso] push meat and cheese (I eat neither - Vegan). El Paso is safe and affordable, but the people here (most) are dumb as a box of rocks. In which neighborhood is the UNM? I like universities. I am also deaf, making me an easy target at night; I go out only during the day. So, is it NE, Rio Rancho, etc.? I don't know if the area around NMU is residential or not. Overall, I need an area where I won't get bothered too much. Although I know it's safe, I won't fit in "po-dunk" Iowa. Thanks for the help, -s |

Okay well UNM is in the Nob Hill / South East Side of the City. I would recommend Albuquerque Acres and the areas around La Cueva High. They have a lot of stores around (La Cueva Town Center, Shops at Paseo Crossing, etc) and almost all of the amentities. Nob Hill is reasonably safe, but considering your disability, that might not be the best area. You should make a trip and see for yourself what kind of atomoshpere you want.

Maybe some organizations in ABq or national ones for disabilities could help. Occasionally, even if they can't help, someone will give tips verbally - but not in writing. Of course that won't help you, but there must be an analogy, just can't think of it.
Perhaps even goodwill, someone at a state medical board once told me to call them when I couldn't find a doctor to treat chronic pain. ![]() Good luck. |
