I'd like to watch the Lobo-Aggie football game at a local sports bar. Does anyone have a recommendation.
Thanks. |

Secondly, you could consider Coach's on Central Ave. near Dowtown. |

If EnjoyEP's rec's don't work out Fox & Hound would be a close third.

Is the Horse & Angel a good spot to watch NFL games on Sundays? Is a middle aged single female going to stick out like a sore thumb or is this a howdy neighbor friendly sort of place? Looking for a chatty spot, not a pickup joint

If you want to watch real football (you guys call it soccer) the best place is Two Fools Tavern

I am not exactly a "hippster" myself...young-30s male with two little children, and I went to the Horse and Angel ALL THE TIME for NFL Sundays. Definitely the HandA is not a pickup joint (except maybe for late weekend nights), more of a classic Northeast Heights large neighborhood tavern (definitely a bit more upscale than Spectators and Howies Sports Page, etc.) - more comparable to a smaller and locally owned Fox and Hounds. Actually, the H and A I far prefer for NFL football Sundays because it typically is busy but not terribly crowded and packed - you can spread out, enjoy your game, etc., and aren't crammed in like a sardine like you are in places like Spectators and Howies. The Horse has a ton of TVs and they'll have any game on almost any TV if you ask. Perfect place for you, Yukon, in ABQ to watch a game. (Yes, the bartenders and waitresses are all female and they wear generally attractive clothing, however, it is weird that way...it is about as far from a "Hooters" or a "Twin Peaks" type environment than you'd get, and you get just as many 43 year old female patrons as you do 25 year old guys during the daytime). |
