Is Qwest the ONLY land line provider in ABQ?
I went to sign up for a virtual phone number with my provider, Vonage, and noticed there was no option for ABQ or any nearby suburb (including Santa Fe). I called to find out why, and the CSS said it it's usually due to very high rates and/or the refusual of the local provider to negotiate or release numbers. The closest I can get is Kirtland (near Farmington, NOT AFB) or Rio Communities (NOT the same as Rio Rancho, Communities seems to be south near Los Lunas or something).
Does anyone have a VOIP provider they've used in ABQ that you'd care to recommend? Or even a voicemail service? I'm trying to get a local virtual number I can forward to my cell phone, for job hunting, but it's looking like I might have to go the 800 route
While we're talking phones, how is the Sprint coverage/service in ABQ?
Thanks!

Comcast just launched their digital cable phone service. Now you can bundle your cable, phone, and internet all on one bill (which you can do with Qwest as well).

I've been fairly pleased with my limited experience with Grand Central. Sounds like it would fit the bill for your purposes.
p.s. Sprint/Qwest Wireless coverage pretty much bites in ABQ. Or at least that was my experience...

for best coverage, I would recommend VERIZON in Albuquerque.

A Rio Communities # shouldn't be a big deal. I believe it's a local call from Albuquerque to there, and vice versa. 8 out of 10 locals won't bat an eye at the prefix being one that they haven't seen before.

Looks like I can get an exchange in one of these cities, are they in the "metro" area?
Edgewood
Bernalillo
Cedar Crest
Alagodones
Los Cerrillos
Chap, thanks for the tip on Grand Central. I signed up but all it said was they'd email me eventually, whatever that means.
Darn. I have Sprint and I like my plan, I was hoping I could keep the service there.

Edgewood, Cedar Crest and Bernalillo are in the Metro Area. I would think that Bernalillo would be the closest, could be wrong though.

yukon,
yes, I believe all the sites you list would be "local" calls, with the possible exception of Los Cerrillos (which I think is near Santa Fe).
If you are interested in the Grand Central option, just send me a DM with your e-mail address, and I'll send you an invite. (At this point in time, you can only sign up for GC if invited by GC or a current user.)
