Great post bradly. Thanks! You know in another strange turn with these centers, Coronado went before the City after ABQ Uptown was proposed but before it was sealed to get a much needed remodel OK'd and was turned down. Many in Coronado felt it was to protect the Uptown deal. Why wouldn't you want an older Center to freshen up?

Great post!
Maybe you could overlay the second rendering on a google map to give us a better idea of which areas are to be built-up.

I remember that well, zia. I also remember that Winrock got some resistance from the local gov't too with some of their refurbishing plans a while ago.
To me, that makes no sense. I love ABQ Uptown as much as you guys, but as you say zia, why not let them (Coronado and Winrock) upgrade too? I think it is bizarre for sure that there are three major city malls/retail developments within one mile of themselves, but because there are, they really should only be helpful to one another in attracting legions of shoppers, not a detriment.

bradly...
Awesome post man, thanks for sharing! I actually indeed *didn't* know anything about this Winrock remodel, as I moved away from ABQ about a year ago and - very regrettably - haven't been back to even visit once since.
Thanks for the update!!! That would be totally cool / exciting!!! For some odd reason, I always rooted the most for Winrock, even though I know it largely sits no defunct. It just seems like a great location butted up against I-40. I just love that Uptown area in general, the more thriving retail that would be there, the better it'd be for the region and for the city in general.
Do you have access to any meeting minutes or results of that June meeting on Winrock? I would be interested to see how realistic their plans/goals are to actually being carried out to fruition. I hate to be a skeptic, as this looks awesome, but I have also seen similar graphics, layouts, etc., for arenas, etc., in ABQ that never even came close to sniffing reality. I would LOVE to see this Winrock thing actually be pulled off.
Also...way cool on that Unser Town Center too!!! How close to reality is that of occurring? Any word of possible tenants? That would be super cool as a 2nd retail west side option!!!

The information I read about Target at Coronado is the same as what ziaAirmac said. If I remember correctly the newspaper article said that Target would be among the last of that phase of development to open, and that at the time of that article Target would not comment on whether or not there would be grocery items at that location.
Was happy to learn Sephora is coming, or is already here, but not so much that it is at Coronado, especially considering the parking....

The project should start in early 2009 according to the meeting, i had to leave early but it seemed really nice! it also looked to good to be true, but you never know haha, the project will include mostly retail stores of upper-middle to higher class shopping.. it will include lots of parking and a imax theater and ..no arenas in the area haha
The unser center will include possibly a lowes home improvement store and a traget thats as far as i know sadly, i tried looking into the projects at work today but there wasnt much.. so idk? all i know is its supposed to start when the road work on unser and central gets finnished!
