Correction: Pecos River Canyon is north of I-25 between Santa Fe and Las Vegas. Follow the signs to the small town of Pecos and go north on highway 63.

Lake Powell is looking quite spectacular:

And we could do a little 1-2 day stop in Flagstaff on our way.

Anyone done Lake Powell?

You might want to check out Lake Roberts in the Gila Mountains. Beautiful area. You can boat and fish, rent a cabin or camp out, etc.

Plus you can fish for trophy trout in the San Juan River below the dam and/or visit the ruins at Aztec.
Can you swim in Navajo Lake?

My partner and I drove to Santa Rosa today for a swim, it's just under 2 hours from ABQ. It was a nice hot day, the Blue Hole certainly cools you off at a constant chilly 61 degrees. There's a cool high dive ledge to jump off into it though, made me feel like I was a kid again.

Roadtrips I've done since moving to New Mexico

Taos
Truth or Consequences
Durango, CO
Sedona, AZ
Phoenix, AZ

Roadtrips I plan on in the future

Grand Canyon
Tucson
National Parks in Southern Utah
Denver
Telluride, CO
back to Taos for repeat trips, love it up there
