Default Help on a driving route

I'm flying to New Hampshire next Monday and driving back to So. Cal starting the road trip on Tuesday (long story). I'm considering 2 routes.

1. Taking I-70 through the Rockies, then going south on I-15 to get back home.

2. Taking I-25 down through NM, west to AZ and back home.

What's I-25 like? Any problems along the way?

Thanks in advance.

Might also recommend you consider I-55/I-44/I-40, ye olde route 66, more or less.

I-25 between Denver and Albuquerque is interesting enough until you get to the NM/CO border. After you pass Raton, it's one of the most boring stretches of freeway in the US until Las Vegas NM. From then on, for the most part, awfully interesting for most of the rest of the way.

Might still be a superior option to I-70 as it gets awfully steep, high, and twisty west of Denver. With winter weather coming up too, I'd avoid that stretch if I could (yes, it could be a blizzard this early).

Thanks. I need the quickest way home, as I'll be driving with my son, his 8 month old pregnant girlfriend and their 6 month old damn puppy.

Yikes. That's gotta be one of the more unfortunate sentence constructs I've seen on this board.

According to snopes.com, the youngest mother on record was only 5 years old.

Maybe it wasn't a typo. Hopefully the son's no older than 12.

Just busting your chops Paula.

According to google maps, it's about 3000 mi from BOS to LAX via I-80/I-70/I-15 and about 3150 via I-55/I-44/I-40. Not an appreciable difference.

No worries, Paula. It happens to the best of us. But your post did make me chuckle.

I've driven 25 between ABQ & Denver, as well as 70 from Denver to Grand Junction several times. 70 has the edge for scenery (and 15 takes you through Vegas for a nice pit stop if that's your thing). But if the weather starts to turn on you I would definitely recommend heading south on 40.

Don't be embarrassed Paula, it was the best laugh I've had all day - and I seriously needed one. Thanks!

My bad. That should say "south on 25".
