Thought this was interesting enough to share. Rio Rancho has begun installing blue lights on top of signals, for example on top of the left turn signal on northbound 528 at southern. Caused some discussion in my family as to why, turns out they are so that police can tell when the light is red from any direction. I think it's a great idea and hopefully makes a difference, getting tired of sitting at a green light because folks are blatantly running a red and turning in front of me. I think Abq could use some of these as well.

They are called "Tattle Tale" lights, helps police in apprehending red light violators. Since many people don't like the Red Light cams, perhaps they should get tickets the old fashion way by a personal touch.

I like the idea.

An article on the item: LED Tattle Tale Lights

According to the article they are available in red, green, or blue. While I can see why green would be a poor choice, I'd've picked red long before blue, just because blue is typically the domain of emergency vehicles.

Great idea though. Now all we need is police officers willing to drive after red arrow runners.

Officers willing to follow the traffic laws themselves when not traveling to an emergency would be cool, too.
