If you drive into SE Albuquerque, you might run into many signs welcoming people to Albuquerque's International District. A suggestion that spurred into the office today was, "An International Meat Market for the International District". Some more suggestions were, a fish market, international markets like clothing from all around the world, and bigger welcome signs. The idea; make the International District more international. What do you think? Have any ideas of your own? Let's hear them.

It might be nice to play up Albuquerque's Sister Cities from around the world somehow. Perhaps have a pavilion which features items from the cities and their countries. I know we already have a Sister Cities park, but I don't think it would hurt any to have something else to honor and showcase our connection with these cities and the cities themselves.
Perhaps this pavilion could be located in the cultural center ApartmentNomad suggests.
We could name the entire thing something such as the "Multicultural Center" or the "International Center". It would be akin to the existing South Broadway Cultural Center, which is operated by the City and is a combined library/performing arts facility/art gallery. Perhaps the library could have a focus on books from around the world (translated and not) and the art gallery display lesser-known and unique works from around the world.
I do think something to do with food will always be a good thing. I think food is the easiest way to introduce people to other cultures and to spark an interest in those cultures.
