I have moved here to Placitas, and have been looking for a good church where the worship service is an important part of the service. I have been to at least 20 churches and have walked out of many after 3 LOUD blasting my ears songs. Do people not know how to worship God here with song? We as Christians are not supposed to act like the world, but the music here is not allowing me to focus on God and worship...just loud noise. There was one, on the other hand that sounded more like they were at a funeral...dead. Then one that was on the right track but repeat repeat repeat the same lines over and over till I almost passed out from boredom. Is there ANY church in this area that worships in songs coming from the heart with some tongues and softer music where one can sing to God and worship him in spirit and thus enter into his presence? Does ANYONE even know what that is like here in this area???? I am hoping someone out there knows what I am talking about. It is not about how loud you can be...just the opposite.

Well people are free to worship in different ways. there's nothing wrong with any of them, it's just preference. Personally I like the worship service at Calvary ABQ on Osuna. I do connect with His presence during worship there. To each his own. I hope you find somewhere you connect with. God Bless.

I live in Santa Fe, and I have walked out of churches, not because of loud music (which I prefer), but of feeling unwelcomed. My take is it doesn't matter what type of music, or how loud it is, if your focus is on the Lord, it shouldn't matter. Now feeling unwelcomed, thats a different take on which I could write a 300 page story on, so I won't bore you.

I do not know of any churches in your area, I do know one, but at this point I can't recommend it, just because there's a lot of "bull" going on in that church, and even when I visit friends down there, I won't step foot in it, but it may be what you're looking for.

Difficult to find a Church where there are not so many little established groups and cliques that you end up feeling alone in a crowd, no matter how many fixed smiles you seen on the faces at the door and perfunctory handshakes on the way in.....always thought that God is everywhere anyway, and not only in the building of this group or that group or whatever group that calls themselves a Church, especially on Sundays .

You might want to take a look at the book "A Month of Sundays" by Julie Mars who gives an excellent (IMO) overview of her experiences with Albuquerque churches. (Churches from other locations are included but most are from the Albuquerque area.) It is from 2005.
