Default UNM /temp agencies job tips?

I moved to WA four years ago and ready to move back to the land of enchantment. I'm nervous to move there without a job and I'd like to work at UNM so today I put an application for a job through their on-line system. I thought someone on here works there and I was wondering if you have tips on getting administrative positions there. I have been working at a college up here so that should help but I wonder if they will consider my application since I live so far away. Is it better to live there and get in their temporary pool?

Also any recommendations for good employment/temp agencies? If I knew I could get some work at a temp agency to keep me going until I found the right job, I'd be less nervous. It would be for professional/administrative work. I have many years of business experience and just finishing my BA.

I have a friend who works at UNM, I'll email her and see if she has any tips on getting past the "electronic gatekeeper" and getting a resume to someone who will actually read it.

Regarding employment agencies, be sure they have a true temp to perm option. It allows you to test the employer and saves the employer $$ on the fee as they can work you on the temp payroll for x# weeks in lieu of a straight placement fee. The big guys all offer this - Manpower, Kelly, Adecco, etc. Robert Half/Accountemps does NOT.

Do you have your resume posted on the various job sites like CareerBuilder and Monster? If you have someone's address in ABQ that you can use on the e-resume, it will help in searches (I was getting calls from Tampa recruiters, calling from my on-line resume, until I figured it out and used an ABQ addy instead - the recruiters search by address apparently).

Thanks Yukon, I do have a friend in Sandia Crest. Good tips on temp work-- I'll make sure I get the temp to perm option. I need to update my resumes that I posted on CareerBuilder, etc.
