Grew up in ABQ, but recently moved back from a two year stint in Tucson. Tucson always felt smaller, when in reality the two are about the same, Tucson just slightly larger. Could never put my finger on exactly why it felt like that.

Huh, you should post this same poll in the Tucson forum and see what they say, I would be very interested. By the way, I have to mention that your pictures are a tid bit misleading. By that I mean, neither have a very impressive skyline, but that is the case of the whole Southwest compared to back east. Albuquerque's skyline is indeed larger than Tucson's, and has excelled further than Tucson in Downtown Revitalization. Each city is very unique and very cultural, but Albuquerque has more "big-city" ammentities. I wish you the best of luck with your move.

Albuquerque feels bigger, two major freeways, larger more active downtown, amusement park, world class Zoo. It just feels larger, while Tucson feels like a large suburb.

Which in many ways it is because of its close proximity to PHX.

I read not so long ago that at their current rates of growth the Tucson and Phoenix metro areas would be conjoined in 25 years, if not for the issue of land availability between them (gov't owned, etc). Yikes, a megacity in the desert. Somehow, I just can't imagine that working out for the better.

everyone thanks
this has made my decision of where to move easier. i just need to choose between Albuquerque, Tucson, Phoenix, and Las Cruces. What about Las Cruces what's it like? and does anyone have links to photothreads on SSP, SSC, or wherever that showcases Las Cruces and/or Tucson. dont need ones of ABQ or PHX, see them all the time.

Las Cruces is much smaller. Its metro population is about 120,000. However, it is only forty minutes away from El Paso.
