Yeah i'd rather support a gas tax increase as even tourists and business travelers will have to pitch in for new construction where as raising the Registration Fees that will only effect us New Mexicans to pick up the tab......

Are you referring to state or federal gas tax? The Fed tax isn't divvied out based on population or even consumption, but by which state has the most powerful senator, er best negotiator on the Transportation Committee......with the two Alaska senators in hot water, maybe the funds will be split more equitably in the future.
