Here is a comparison of El Paso and Albuquerque (1981-2010 Climate Normals) (both are Airport stats)

EL PASO vs ALBUQUERQUE
Hi Lo........Hi Lo

78 52 OCT 69 46
68 40 NOV 56 34
57 33 DEC 46 27

Interestingly, older climate normals for Albuquerque Sunport have higher average highs,
for example 71F for April and October, but lower average lows,
average annual temperature staying almost the same (not increasing
dramatically like other areas in AZ and NV)

Want warmer highs in ABQ area, or a much cooler summer? No Problem...

Rio Rancho vs Sandia Park

73 43 OCT 64 40
60 30 NOV 52 30
50 24 DEC 43 22

Rio Rancho stats are typical of near Rio Grande, want even warmser highs,
head south to Los Lunas or Belen, both still within ABQ commuting distance.

Sandia Park at 7,000 feet is much cooler but the trade off is more than double
precip (20 inches) and much more snow (much greener looking though).

In my opinion the sun in El Paso feels hotter than Albuquerque because there are fewer trees around El Paso. Albuquerque also cools down more at night than El Paso, and takes longer to heat up in the morning.

I lived in Las Cruces and Albuquerque for many years and Albuquerque feels much cooler, and Las Cruces is cooler than El Paso.

I should also mention that Albuquerque typically has more cloud coverage than El Paso during the summer (and most other months).
