We need an amusement park in a major way. It is quite sad that a city of our size, which is full of families, does not have a major amusement/water park. While the place at Carlisle and I-40 is nice, it in no way addresses the needs of ABQ's youth. I know Six-Flags was eyeing the metro for sometime, but our typical unfriendly business attitude (slowly changing) and those darn NIMBY's (Not In My Back Yard) prevented that from happening.

We need continued west side business developement and not just housing. Its good that Tesla motors and Eclipse aviation are under construction but more will be needed. Secondly we need a Western Loop freeway on Paseo de Volcan ( From Isleta to Bernalillo) and yes it will be expensive but we need to pony up the money and get this built. I noticed that El Paso's new loop I-375 really gives that city a major league look and feel to it......
Also too bad that the State Fair didn't move to Mesa Del Sol as a brand new state of the art facility could have been huge MegaPlex with a year around theme park/casino/race track with a brand new look and feel..... |

What does it need ? Try H2O. I get so tired of the major hyw. intersections surrounded by dirt. Take a look at the windshields of the cars in that city. They are all pitted from blowing sand. Why not just raise the level of the dam and flood the entire valley from Elephant Butte to the Rio Grande Gorge, from Four Hills to nine mile hill. No one would miss thay dirty, gang infested berg.

Everyone seems to be asking for there to be an amusement park in town. We have one. Cliff's isn't Six Flags, but it sounds like people forget we have one.
Rising on the site of the Beach there appears to be an entertainment establishment of some sort (perhaps a la Dave & Busters) in the planning stages. I'd give the new water park @ I-40 & Carlisle a fair shake before I called it too small. It looks pretty sizeable for an indoor one. What others call "major league look and feel" I call "traffic jam and eyesore". If a loop freeway in Albuquerque would help your current commute, I'd be very surprised. |

Zoidberg advised:
> What others call "major league look and feel" > I call "traffic jam and eyesore". It depends on how they build it. Many newer freeways that I have observed in Phoenix are below grade or partially so. You can't see them unless you are right on top of them. > If a loop freeway in Albuquerque would help > your current commute, I'd be very surprised. It sure won't help me, but then I live on the Eastern edge, so unless they do something with Paseo Del Norte or Tramway, I won't notice. If someone already makes their way down Unser to I-40 then a Paseo Del Volcan expressway would certainly help them get in line for the I-40 parking lot to get over the Rio Grande Bridge. If the expressway somehow connected to I-25 then it will likewise help people line up on I-25 (and sit). However, if you are going from Denver to Phoenix such a bypass would make your trip easier. For those already on I-40/I-25 any cars using that bypass would now no longer be sharing the road with you -- a plus. That being said, I've lived in the Houston area and really liked the Sam Houston tollway. The people that use it pay for it and having to pay to get on keeps people who are just going a few miles from piling on so that the expressway flows pretty well. If I had anything to say about it, I'd like to see the Paseo Del Volcan be built as a toll road (but I don't so my opinion is pretty much irrelevant as is pretty much everyone else's around here). |

The facility is closed for six months (give or take) of the year. They pay taxes and have to do some upkeep for all twelve months. Mystified, I am. |
