Default Relocating from West Los Angeles

Hello All:

I am going to be relocating back to NM from West Los Angeles. I lived in Santa Fe back in the mid-90's but I am not that familair with ABQ. From the threads on here I have deduced that NW ABQ and NE ABQ are desirable locations to live in. In your view, which one would be more desirable for a single 30-something professional sans kids? I am looking to initially rent and then buy a house in a couple of years.
Also, is the singles scene here as dire as it is in Los Angeles? lol.
Thanks for your time.

Well the northeast heights would be most desirable kids or no kids. I would recommend looking at the Apartments off of Paseo and Wyoming, and Paseo and Barstow. You should also look at a couple apartment complexes off of San Antonio (just west of Wyoming), Eubank (north of Montgomery) and others. Just suggestion.

Single scene isn't great, but you should be able to manage with a little searching.

I also would recommend NE ABQ, but not the NW. Far NW is nice, but the near NW has seen increasing gang activity in the past couple of years. (talking south of Montano, north of I-40, between I-25 and the river)

The areas abqsunport mentioned are all good for your profile, and I'll add the apartment complexes north of Montgomery closer to San Mateo as well. I have some friends who live in some on Topke Pl., and they like living there, and have said they like the low-noise level there (the street where the apartment complexes are aren't 'through-streets', they dead end at the end of the complexes, so traffic is only the residents).

The NE area will keep you closer to anything you require in the city, and as far as security, is considered the safer part of Albuquerque. There are also some nice homes in the NE area as well.
