My comcast bill just increased from $32/month to $72/month right after one year for internet only service. Is there any chance that I can lower my bill by calling comcast with possible cancellation?

I am thinking about switching to centurylink; anyone likes to share experience of using centurylink? They now offer $33/month and no change for two years, but you have to buy their modem and activation for $120 up front.

Thanks guys!

Tom

I just knocked off 10 bucks a month, by buying my own modem. Comcast charges 10 bucks a month to rent a modem, which is a ripoff. That being said, I still think Comcast blows chunks, but this the only ISP in my neck of the woods.

I used my own modem when I signed up with Comcast last year. Not sure if centurylink allows using your own equipment.

Update: I called comcast this morning; they offered a promotion of $49.99 for internet, local TV, and HBO for 12 months and I may disconnect any time I wish without penalty.

Well, sometimes you can swing a better deal!

We are OTA (Over The Air) with Roku for movies.
