I'm renting a room way out in the western sprawl right now (and when trying to get somewhere yesterday, was pointed to a road that didn't even exist yet on Google Maps!). There's definitely ugly parts of Albuquerque, with all of the strip malls, and the spawl land with huge number of identical houses.

On the plus side, in the back part of the yard, I have a nearly-uninterrupted view of the entire mountain range surrounding the town, and if I go across the street behind the house, there's a quite spectacular view of the entire western horizon.

The sky contributes greatly to beauty of Albuquerque. Even in the ugly industrialized parts, there's still usually a lot of open sky visible. You can also get to the mountians or open desert quite quickly.

Of course, I'm a town person, and would rather be in a more self-contained area close to the wilderness (like Silver City, or even my hometown of Ruidoso), but I'm happy enough being in Albuquerque right now.

Keep in mind that a lot of ABQeans don't count the West side as part of ABQ. I certainly don't.

I know this is against the TOS, but you're a snoot.

Default Breaking Bad scene location

After missing the first season, I finally got caught up into watching "Breaking Bad." Even though I'm not a resident, I enjoy identifying what locations I can in the show from my previous visits to ABQ (drug dealing in front of Burt's Tiki Lounge--whoda thunk it?).

In last Sunday's show (April 5), there was a backyard scene at the DEA agent brother-in-law's place. The homes looked great and the mountain vistas from the back yard were terrific. Any idea where the scene was shot?

that scene had to be shot just on the eastern edge of ABQ near tramway Im guessing, you could probably google street map it and look at the street views near the Sandia Mountain.

I think it is in the Glenwood Hills subdivision near Tramway and Manitoba NE.
