Talking moving to Albuquerque from MN

My friend is moving to Albuquerque to be with her boyfriend of two years. she does'nt want to go alone and wants me to go with. I am having very mixed feeling about moving there, just because i have been hearing so many bad things about it. My friend has been there though, she is also from MN, And she likes it there. we both would only be going for about 2 years and then probably moving back to MN (mabey).

She would be living with her boyfriend, and I am looking for an Apt.
Can anyone tell me where to start looking, and where a good place to live would be?
Also, how is the jobfield down there?
Anything anyone can tell me about Albuquerque, good or bad would be greatly appreciated
I am 27, no kids.

The job market is very good right now. ABQ has the lowest unemployment in history. Our city is growing by leaps and bounds and much of the negative information you have heard is overly exaggerated. I think you will find that our nightlife is great for a city our size, as is the job market, and most importantly the weather. My neighbor hails from MN and he would never go back because of the weather. I'm not trying to say ABQ is better than MN. In fact there are many things you might miss such as greenery and water. But where else can you ski in the morning and play golf that afternoon. If you love the outdoors, you will love the majestic mountains of NM.

Let me know what type of work you do, and I can make several recommendation for employment. I work at Gap's Corporate Headquarters downtown, and there are always positions available. The workforce is young, the discount is great, and overall it is a wonderful company to work for.

Hey...I moved to Albuquerque three years ago from Wisconsin (right next door to Minnesota) and love it here!

I very much miss my family and great friends in WI, and that is the one heavy appeal to me personally to live in WI (the people there). However, if the "people factor" is not a big deal to you in Minnesota, I have a hard time seeing any other extreme advantages to living in the Midwest than down here in ABQ. The weather is great here, the scenery is great, the culture is neat, the food is tremendous, the size of the city is good, the cost of living is much lower...all in all, it is hard to go wrong with Albuquerque. I cannot promise I will live here forever, however, I can almost guarantee that if I live somewhere else someday, I will very much miss Albuquerque. Truly this is a great city/area.
