Default Help Needed Finding House For Rent (2-3 Yrs)

Hi

I'm moving to Albuquerque from Scotland with my wife and 2 boys (both Elementary age) at the end of March and expect to be in the city for approx 2-3 yrs. I've been searching for an appropriate house to rent for some time now, with mixed success (main sites used Rentals.com and craigslist.com). We're looking for a 3-4 bedroom house in NE or NW ABQ, size not critical but 2000-2500 sq ft would probably be ample; we have a romantic notion of renting a house with a pool but haven't quite worked out whether the novelty of this might wear off (comments welcome); fully appreciate that trying to find the right house, with a pool, in the right location for good schooling is a difficult prospect but surely not impossible..... Rental ceiling in the region of $1500-1600 pcm but looking for a stable rent for the duration of our stay.

Any advice on where else to look for suitable properties, or agents that may help us with our quest would be greatly appreciated. I'm in Albuquerque during the period 23-27 Feb and am keen to view prospective properties during that time.

Default Looking for house to rent

Hi,
It will sound basic, but check out the classifieds for the ABQ Journal - ABQjournal | The Albuquerque Journal Online v1.5.3 tab Albuquerque and New Mexico State and Local News, Sports, Weather and Jobs, Cars, Real Estate and Classified Advertising. You'll find plenty of houses for rent, especially on the weekend. It will give you a better idea of rental prices by area. Your target price is certainly workable.
As to a pool, I've had them both here and in Florida. They do require upkeep. The downside is - the season is short in ABQ and since the temps cool down at night, you will want to have the pool either heated or with a cover. I really did not get much use with the pool and I don't know that there are that many rental homes available with the pool. On the plus side, there are several city pools (both in ABQ and Rio Rancho), so there is some place to go to cool down.
Hope the info is helpful and good luck with the search!

Default Travelling Jock

Travelling Jock,
We have had a house on the market in NW albuq. since Nov and have been considering taking it off the market and trying to rent it. We have relocated to NC for my husbands work. It is a new home. 2484 Sq ft. 4 bedroooms. Corner lot with views. A new Elem. school opening in Aug. Lots of kids in the neighborhood. A community pool. We had our own pool in a previous home we owned and the expense and work to maintain it was outrageous. The rent would be right at the $1500 mark. We were kind of worried about renting it because its risky and you never know who you're going to wind up with but it sounds as if you have a nice family and are planning on staying awhile. If you are at all interested, please PM me. I can send you pics and any additional info you would like.

Here's a rental agency I came across by accident when I saw their rental sign in a yard. They seem to have a pretty good selection of properties.

Bruni Karr Agency - Rentals and Property Management in Albuquerque New Mexico PM Website by HomeRentals.net

And a website where you can enter an address and pull up it's elementary school:

Address Query - City of Albuquerque

I think you should definitely be able to find a home with a pool and a good elementary, in the price range you mentioned. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies so far. We have registered interest with a few rental agencies but little or nothing that appeals has been forthcoming to date. Any other help with our hunt, which satisfies the following criteria, would be greatly appreciated.
