I live a hop skip and jump from Corrales and have always admired how steadfast they have been in maintaining the community's natural character, resisting development. They have the best of both worlds because they're smack next to urban ABQ but are rural. Placitas itself is gorgeous too but it's too far from ABQ for most people that have routine activities/ties in the city. I'd love to live in Placitas but seeing as I go to UNM it would be daunting to drive such a distance all the time.
