Funny, if you ask around nowadays which side of the Sandias has mild weather right now, I don't think you'll get much agreement with your point. Summers up there are so much milder.

If you're stuck to the "I HAVE HAVE HAVE to commute at least a half hour each way each day" mindset that you bring in from the big city rat race, and work on base or near the airport, you could do worse.

In winter, the mild version of whatever the east mountains get is often worse for aggregate personhours of commuting delays coming from Sandoval county, just because their transportation infrastructure's already so heavily leveraged with so many cars going so far.

Plus, getting snowed in and not being able to come in to work every now and then is looked upon by many as a feature, not a bug.

Default Commute time

I agree that the most time you'll spend during a commute from any one point to another in ABQ even with heavy traffic is 1 hour. I don't see why you would want to live in Rio Rancho, though. If you have the means, live in Nob Hill. It's much nicer. Rio Rancho is pure desert with hardly any trees.

Some people prefer the desert. There are 4MM people in Phoenix that have chosen a desert with hardly any trees to live.
