It's kind of silly because it's the act of talking to someone that distracts you from driving - hands-free or not.

So looking down to grab the phone, unlock it and dial a number doesn't affect the driving at all ?

When you are on the phone talking it can put you in your own world to where you lose total concentration on the task at hand, driving.

IMO, if you can talk and drive, perhaps you shouldn't be on the road to begin with.

According to today's news, if the Nat. Transportation Safety Board had its way, there will be one day be a federal law regulating all forms of talking/texting while driving (including the hands free versions).

Can't enforce a bad law, nanny state or not.

Please speak English...

What are you talking about?

No laws can be 100% enforced...

From a reliable source:
Quote:
Albuquerque Police reported to the City Safety Commission that officers issued 1,385 cell phone citations in 2006.

For just the first 11 months of 2005, 1,898 cell phone tickets were issued

2,141 tickets had been issued for a 12-month period through March 2006.
No, that does not solve much...
