Default This may be a dumb question but...

Do you have to join the Air Force to work at the Kirtland Airforce Base?

They seem to have quite a bit of job openings and perhaps I'm a moron, but do you have to join the military to work there?

I wanted to look dumb here first before I apply there and look even dumber

Good Question, not sure. I would think the answer would be no, you don't have to be a member of the USAF.

Nah JRod, they have military-only positions certainly of course, however, there are civilian positions at KAFB as well.

Civilian job = civil service. My mom retired from a career in Civil Service (federal level). She outranked my dad (military) at one point. We thought it was hilarious, he didn't. If you can handle the "we've always done it this way" mentality, the benefits are good.

No you don't but i know what you are talking about. The Air Force is hiring a lot all over right now but most of those positions only seem to be open to non-competitive candidates. Another federal place to look would be the forest service they are hiring a lot since they moved HQ to abq, you can find listings on www.avuedigitalservices.com

???? I wonder how you got that, I just looked yesterday and there are listings of jobs in Albuquerque or 'multiple locations' which include ABQ. you can register and create a job agent to list jobs in the location for your preference or just click 'search for jobs' and select NM and search...ok, i just did a basic search without registering and found jobs, when i'm registered my page has at least 15+ pages

When you work as a civilian in a military base, do you have to solute the officers as they walk past you and all that?
