You're at a department store such as Best Buy and the police have a full-time officer on the premises. BTW my car got stolen today. Sort of a long story.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying there's isn't a problem now with panhandlers, I'm just saying I didn't see any evidence of them when I was living there. I'm suprised, is all, that there is such a problem with them nowadays.
This is an older post and a long thread so excuse me if someone has already mentioned this. But I thought that there had been an Albuquerque ordinance years ago banning panhandling so the beggers would be very discreet about it, approaching individuals quietly with verbal requests only, especially in the downtown, UNM, and nearby areas. But these types of ordinances were overturned as being a violation of the First Amendment. So panhandlers were then free to beg and to openly display signs which allowed them to more efficiently panhandle at red lights and spread out across the city. So those who lived in the heights or westside may not have previously seen that much evidence of panhandlers but now notice them at major intersections. I used to be harrassed by panhandlers all the time outside stores but now mostly see them at intersections which is easier to ignore.

And to top it off no one has rentals available until at least late this afternoon. The guy who stole it went right to Gamestop on South Coor and I'm told they have a crystal clear picture of him.

Ah, good old South Coors. Well, at least he had his priorities right.
My car got stolen once and the cops recovered it the next week in better shape than when it was taken. They'd even done a little detailing.
Maybe they'll make it a lowrider. Stay tuned.
