New Retail in Nob Hill and ABQ Uptown
Urban Outfitters will be opening in November in Nob Hill next to Objects of Desire. I know many folks would prefer to keep national chains out of Nob Hill but I think this one makes sense.
Albuquerque's second Trader Joes will be opening during phase II at our new lifestyle center ABQ Uptown. Now if we can get one on the Westside?

Speaking of ABQ Uptown . . . .
Someone once said that Albuquerque is now a city, not a town, now that it has an Apple Store.
I don't know whether this is good or bad.

I LOVE my Mac. An Apple store is a good thing.
Prior to visiting, discovering that ABQ had an Apple Store DID seriously change my perception of ABQ. So yes, it can be a very good thing. And wouldn't you rather have more Mac users around? We're nicer than PC users.........
Just kidding.
Maybe.

My 7 mo. old daughter and I were there for the grand opening of the Apple store, hanging out with the rest of the Apple geeks in the early morning que. Scored a t-shirt and made some new friends. I have to take these times now, I know she won't always be as enthusiastic to join me on such outings. I did have a feeling that Albuquerque had arrived on some level. Before that, our only choice for Apple retail was CompUSA (now gone.).
I hadn't heard about the new Urban Outfitters in Nob Hill. I think it will go over like a lead balloon with the (Nob Hill) locals, who generally enjoy being able to walk to an eclectic mix of locally run shops. They hold these cool little farmers market days and festivals in the back lots every so often that are a great hang out if you ever get the chance.
The second Trader Joe's puts me directly between the two stores, but the split in crowds will be welcome. The lot gets so packed on weekends that people are parking on the feeder roads and getting cranky in the lot proper. There's nothing more ridiculous than watching a local socialite jam her sixty thousand dollar German SUV into a space your signaled and waiting for just because the way the guy backed out of the space allowed her to. This is so she can shop at a place that touts consciousness and social/environmental awareness. I'm not bitter though.

Awesome full retail update, finmqa1!!! Thanks!
Do you have any idea when that second TJ's will be opening? (I know you said Phase II, but without being "on the ground" currently there, I am unsure when that generally will be).

I'm guessing in early 2009. They weren't specific with that announcement.

ziaAirmac bitterly relates:

Heh. You can't get around a highly developed sense of entitlement.
I always park way the heck away and walk the extra minute or so because I try to reduce my stress level wherever and whenever I can. The walk, of course, is good for me.
Sitting ... waiting for someone to sit ... wait for someone else to pull out of a place that is three spaces down from the next open space just makes me stressed.
If there are not at least ten open spaces between my car and the next car then I have parked too close.

I am really glad that I do not know how to shop. Let's see - Grocery, hardware/lumber/tools, cloths (westernwearhouse), whiskey and that is about it. Just enough stors so I can avoid Wal-mart.
