restorey is on a distinguished road
Thumbs up Our Trip to Albuquerque what a time.

Day one took a nap and looked at houses we ate at a Mexican place on Menaul Los Cuartes food was good; service was great (chile not hot enough.)

Day two looked at houses went to church went to Flying Star for a meal (Way cool) went to Cooperage for dinner, as we say in WI it will be a cold day in hell before I go back there (Cooperage), server was way unfriendly and food was sub-par.

Day three looked at houses went to Texas Land & Cattle Steakhouse on 25 Steak was great but no chile (please don’t tell my wife but I did manage to sneak off for a green chile cheese burger at Blakes (she is way to hyper sensitive about my cholesterol.)) we also went to St Claire’s nice wine.

Day four Santa Fe road trip looked around ate at Tomecita’s (sp?) chile still not hot enough (but mind you I like Habaneras with salt for a side dish.) salsa was good

Day five side trip to Phoenix AZ for shoes Hey I have a size 14 ½ double EE you go to where the shoes are.

Day six came back to Beautiful Albuquerque took a nap and then meet a co-worker at Sadies good food missed the endorphin rush with the chile. But the Food and Service were great.

Day seven went to Anderson’s on Rio Grande Let me tell you that is the place to go great wine and the Person who served us (Erica was really nice and knowledgeable about wine) also looked for Dagmar’s mouth was kind of watering for maybe a schnitzel sandwich and a hefe weizen alas Dag’s was closed.

I also managed to order a Pizza from Mario’s and I think that it was sub-par, but I really wouldn’t know because it came to the room cold.

Okay so lets talk about my Driving experience in ABQ I have found that it was not bad as long as you remember that there are many ways around the city DO NOT TRY TO DRIVE 40 during Rush hour. The city was well thought out when they placed the roads and no place was more then 25 mins away if you missed the rush hour.

Can we talk about the food now? I will hate coming to ABQ, all the food has both salad and tomatoes (for those of you that don’t really understand mid-Western Sarcasms this is it) either in it or on it and I don’t have long floppy ears so I am more of a meat and potato kind of guy. Actually I was very happy with the food overall and dang it I will be losing weight when I come down.

Lets talk about the people, I found the people polite and friendly. Side note what the hell is up with the people that are complaining about not making best friends in six months? Crap I am 46 years old I have a total of 4 best friends and a boatful of people I associate with. It takes year to develop a relationship with another person to be able to say they are best friends. Mind you this is my opinion and I will stick to it.

My wife and I were overall very happy with the trip and are waiting to sell our house in Green Bay to purchase a HOME in Albuquerque New Mexico.

Flame away.

restorey

P.S. Did I mention the incredible views there

Glad you had a good trip in Albuquerque! For a nice endorphin rush, you should head down to Hatch, New Mexico.

Great to hear that you loved ABQ, restorey, and LUCKY FOR YOU!!...to be ABQ-bound from WI!

I was out for a walk this afternoon (down here in Milwaukee) and it was 38 degrees with 25 - 35 mph winds (40+ gusts) (and Albuquerqueans think THEIR "spring winds" in dry 70 degree weather is so bad) and incredibly heavy, constant, rains sheeting down. I was lusting for ABQ, NM.

I love WI as it will forever be my birthplace but darnit all, your post just heartily explains again why a WI-ite may crave that which is the high desert of ABQ. Good for you to fit in a road trip to not only Santa Fe but even to Phoenix!!! A person after my own heart...one that isn't afraid to drive in the open Southwest.

I agree with you about the Flying Star - it is way cool. Great place to go post-church indeed.

restorey relates their trip to us:

> ... Cooperage for dinner, ... unfriendly and food was sub-par ...

Pity. It used to be top knotch.

> ... manage to sneak off for a green chile cheese burger at Blakes (she is way to hyper sensitive about my cholesterol.)

Tell her that the more green chile you eat, the lower both your cholesteral and weight will become. The chile cancels out the fat in the hamburger, so you can do this as much as you want.

That's *my* story and I'm sticking to (and living by) it.

P.S. Red chile? Just as effective, so pile it on your eggs.

P.P.S. You didn't mention any consumption of Huevos Rancheros. Was this just an oversight in your report or a failure in your trip? Note that no Huevos Rancheros *would* be a failure and you will have to repeat the quiz before you will be allowed to graduate.
