Albuquerque number 1 for business...
Greetings,
The latest issue of Forbes magazine has selected the city of Albuquerque, NM as the number 1 place for business.
This prestigious recognition will surely bring many more business upstarts and business expansions into the city as well as the state.
Two major hollywood studio deals are in the works which should bring a few thousand well paying jobs to the city.
Albuquerque's day has finally arrived.

Well I'am quite certain that the utopian mecca where you're currently residing never heard of illegal drugs.
If such a place does exist would you be so kind as to fill everyone in on its where-abouts.

Every place has its problems. You'd be hard-pressed to find a county in the US right now that isn't struggling against meth use.
But in Albuquerque the illegal drug business and all the crime that goes with it --- gangs, robberies, murder, burglaries, etc. --- is booming.
Albuquerque certainly isn't the worst place I've ever been. But it's on the list.

I concur fully with your first point. (Meth use is nothing new though, been around since the 60's.)
I my opinion your second point is over-sensationalized media fodder.
Yet you still won't divulge your where-abouts. Interesting.
Cheers...

Check out city data's own data:
Albuquerque, New Mexico (NM) Detailed Profile - relocation, real estate, travel, jobs, hospitals, schools, crime, news, sex offenders
National crime average is 329.7. Albuquerque's was 577.5 last year!
This other site's stats don't paint a very good picture either: Moderator cut: link removed

You never asked, precious.
I live in the Seattle/Tacoma area now. Don't much like it. Eager to get out. But I sure wouldn't go to Albuquerque.
I grew up in New Mexico and still have most of my family out there. I have a brother in Rio Rancho (one of Albuquerque's suburbs), and he can't wait to get out of the mess that Albuquerque has become.

I don't wish to be redundant here, however if you care about my take on misleading blanket crime stats feel free to read my other thread (Sick of all the Albuquerque...)
The arrogance of some people - how can anyone give any creedance to your *rants* about this city if you do not even reside here anymore...?
I sincerely hope everything works out for you and your brother.
Cheers!

Your other thread (as well as this one) shows that you're taking this personally. Don't. I have nothing against you or anyone else who loves Albuquerque. More power to you. But I hold a differing opinion, and when people come on asking for opinions, I'm as free to give mine as you are yours. Don't take it personally.
And the "blanket crime stats" are hardly misleading. Check out Albuquerque PD's own stats. They aren't any better. Albuquerque is a high-crime area. That's fact. But really. If you think city data's crime stats are misleading, why are you participating in their forum?

The facts are on my side. All national and state crime statistics will tell you that Albuquerque has a crime rate significantly higher than the national average. My own experience confirms this. It doesn't mean that there aren't a lot of good people and some good places in Albuquerque. There are. But compared to other communities in this country, Albquerque has a high crime rate. That's fact. Not a nice fact, maybe, but it's a fact.
I've never lived in Baghdad or Beirut either. But I'd be pretty secure in asserting that they aren't the safest places to live.

Forbes magazine ranking
I saw in the newspaper what ALBUQUERQUE was ranked on in that Forbes Magazine issue and Albq. ranked #1 in the best place to do business and 173 in crime rate and that is out of 200 cities.
