You know, ABQSunseeker, Continental flys nonstop to Newark. Perhaps that would be better than a connection, even if it isn't your airport of choice.

Thanks, True, but I believe that flight is a red eye, overnight and only in summer season when I checked last....

well yes, it is only a red eye, but it operated all year long in 07. I used it in November, however, I think for the spring months it was only 4 days a week.
this is the timetable for the filght

Christylou - yep, first thing we noticed... grey skies. Especially after our wonderful week in Sunny NM. Hopefully we'll get back there soon... permentantly.
Southwest flies direct from Seattle to ABQ.

Thanks, I found the Southwest flight and that's what we are taking on our next trip June 20. Less chance that my luggage will be traveling without me again. I think they said it was on a United flight to Chicago.
I can't wait to get back and see how I tolerate the heat. Was it warm when you were there?

When we arrived (5/15) it was wet & cool (50-ish) but it warmed up the days following quite nicely. It was 'hot' - in the upper 80s and into the 90s but honestly - it didn't feel that hot at all. Guess its true about the 'dry' heat. We are originally from TX (but 16 yrs in the PNW) so we are used to heat with humidity. It was great to have the heat without the humidity. There is another poster - DDay I think it is - that moved there two yrs ago from PNW and says that they still do not miss the rain. I can't wait to see for myself.
Make sure you take good sunscreen and use it. The sun seems a lot more intense there than here.
Have fun!!!!

I love the ABQ airport - having frequent visitors coming to vist, I find it easy to get in and out of, and short term parking doesn't cost you an arm and a leg! I also wish they had direct flights to the east coast, but it's such a pretty airport and so easy to find your way around. I haven't had delays that were airport related, except for the winter of 2006 storm (yikes). Most delays seemed to be airline related, or due to bad weather somewhere else. Overall, it's one of the nicer airports I've been thru.

I like the Sunport facilities as well. I suggest taking a taxi to downtown to pick up your rental car. You will save more than the taxi fare by avoiding the airport use tax.

I can't add much more than what has been said, but the Sunport is great. A smallish airport which adds to a huge convenience factor - you don't have to get there 3 hours before flights, etc., just so much simpler than mammoths like Sky Harbor, DIA, and O'Hare. Security always is pretty easy at the Sunport. Yet, unlike other airports of similar sized cities - El Paso and Tucson for example - the Sunport gets a pretty steady, good flow of flights, I think largely due to its centralized nature in the Southwest and its good flight conditions.
I think the Sunport (not that you are in airports for the scenery) also looks so neat, was built so fitting of Albuquerque - it just has a pleasant look.
Plus, the name is the frigging "Sunport"...how can you not love Albuquerque's right to boast about one of its amazing qualities!!
