Default Albuquerque Acres West

I have been reading this forum for a while and I have found it very useful. I have a question about the Albuquerque Acres West area. I am planning on buying a home soon in the La Cueva school district. I have heard a number of good things about that school, the NE area generally, and about a number of specific areas: Sandia Heights, Far Northeast Heights, North Albuquerque Acres, etc. I have not, however, heard much about Albuquerque Acres West, which seems odd because it is in the La Cueva district and seems like a good place to live. A number of homes that I am looking at right now are in Albuquerque Acres West and I was wondering if there is any wisdom people can share about that area. Is it not a good location? It seems like a relatively newly developed area, so is it just not that well known? Is there a reason it's not popular or is it just one of those hidden gems? Any insight is much appreciated.

It is my understanding that roughly, the Albuquerque Acres West area is bounded by Ventura and I-25 and Paseo Del Norte and Tramway.

As far as the terminology, that could have something to do with it, also, sometimes all of these "section" and "neighborhood" terms start get get into splitting hairs, etc.

But as far as the *location*, believe me, ABQeans definitely know it quite well and it is a very nice area of the city to live in.

Kind of to my answer previously. I think the area itself IS fairly popular, even if the terminology of "AAW" isn't (and I will cede that at least in my time there, it wasn't). But the *area* it is in IS quite popular, and no, it isn't a hidden gem - because again, folks do know about it.

But, I think the point being - I think you'd be very happy / well off to look for housing there and wouldn't be disappointed with a decision to live in that area.

Albuquerque Acres West is just a part of North Albuquerque Acres (they are practically synonymous). It really means it is is closer to Ventura or Holbrook than it is to Tramway or Lowell ( I believe). Every Area around Paseo Del Norte East of Louisiana is very nice.
