Sorry but *ugh*
Can't imagine going to ABQ and eating sushi. But that's just me.
I am sure others will know of a good place.

I ate at Samurai on Montogomery. In comparison to my fav sushi place (in another city), I'd say Samurai is average in comparison; a solid place, but not phenomenal.

My wife: Native Japanese and **total** Sushi Snob
Places she's liked:
Midori Sushi (San Pedro & Montgomery on the NE side)
Sushi Gen (San Mateo across from Cliff's (approximately))
Lately, she's really been attached to going to Kokoro on Menaul just across and a little East of Ballio's. It's hard to find with their ridiculous black sign with orange letters, but if you get to the huge metal structure on the South side of Menaul where I think they sell used cars, you've gone a few hundred feet too far East.
In Rio Rancho, you cannot, absolutely cannot go wrong with Noda (2704 Southern Blvd SE # 13) .
Also note that you can get take-home sashimi-quality fish at the counter at the Nantucket Shoals Fish Market at Academy & Seagull (N side) next to Trombino's.
You can also do this at Whole Foods.
(When I say "you can" I mean that "she does" ...)
As for me: Sushi? I don't see the point. I *do* take her snobbism seriously.

Mortimer, I'm glad to hear about Noda's on your list. I've always thought the food especially good there---my favorite Japanese here.

We like Azuma on San Mateo for a nice balance of portion/price/quality and it has a Teppan grill if you want to go that direction. Also, Crazy Fish in Nob Hill has never disappointed us and has a nice ambiance. They have a seafood salad that's big enough to be shared as an opener and has big pieces of fish. Delicious!
