Moving to ABQ
Hey Everyone,
I wanted to thank everyone for all the info in our decision making process. After many long conversations.. discussions.. arguments..and more discussions.. late nighters.. ok, you get the point.. we've decided to take the plunge and move to ABQ. We're nervous, excited, scared, pumped, overwhelmed.. a little bit of everything. I now have a whole new list of questions that I'll create in separate posts. I just wanted to thank everyone for all the great info. This site really helped our week stay in ABQ turn out fantastic and it has kept me thinking about the city before and after our trip. So in a way, along with a couple hundred other things, this site and everyone's passion about ABQ has helped us make this decision. Ok, so I'll create some posts with more specific questions I have. Thanks again everyone!

Wow, jrod, you actually kind of shocked me man!! I am surprised totally.
CONGRATS! I think you'll find that you made the right decision over time, if for nothing else just for the life experience.
Caution alert: As you are probably very aware, you are going to go through a whole lotta mixed emotions. Many times you - and even more likely - your wife will ask yourselves "are we doing the right thing?" It is only natural. Its just going to happen...brace yourself for it!
(Besides, every time that emotion creeps in, just start thinking to yourself about the Sandia vista every morning and being able to play golf for 90% of the days in the winter in 45-60 degree high sunny temps!).
Congrats man, and good luck. You literally are doing the same thing I did about 5 years ago with my wife, and I obviously don't regret a second. Even if you don't end up in ABQ for life, you are now open to a really fun, neat ride!!! Best running weather in the nation too.

That is fantastic news jrod!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!! My cousin and her husband are moving to Singapore (temporarily) and they are facing huge amounts of stress. It is only natural to be stressed...just keep in mind, you are still in the U.S. You are trying something new, and should it not work out, you aren't tied down. Best of Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know you are making the right decision.

Even though being in Indianapolis / the Midwest, when you tell folks that you are moving to "Albuquerque, New Mexico", they will (especially more aged folks - grandparents, etc.) fret because they are thinking you are moving abroad!!... ...

Or just tell them you are moving to Arizona because that's what half the people will think anyway ;-)

Thanks everyone.
So far no mixed emotions. We're pumped. Although I am feeling overwhelmed. The thought of selling our home, buying a home, packing, moving, still finalizing my job plans, selling my truck, buying a new car... it's just really overwhelming. I just need to make a list of priorities and start knocking things out.
