Hi
me-by-the-sea, you stated "Once HP is in New Mexico the local hires need to be residents of the state for one year prior to the hiring." Is this part of the incentive plan HP received from the state and town? If not, where did this limitation come from?

thx

"HP is also seeking funds from the Job Training Incentive Program, but the amount it can receive is unclear, Balzano said, until the state gets more information from HP. The JTIP program funds classroom and on-the-job-training for newly created jobs in expanding or relocating businesses for up to six months. It is for companies that manufacture or produce a product in New Mexico and non-retail service companies that export a substantial percentage of services out of state. The jobs must be full-time and year-round. The employees must be new hires to the company and residents of the State of New Mexico for at least one year at any time prior to employment in an eligible position."

Default The residence limit appears to be only for the JTIP program

ok so if the Job Training Incentive Program is used, the new hire must be a resident for a year. But HP is able to hire anyone, local or transplants, for jobs if the Job Training Incentive Program is not utilized.

thanks for the pointer

That is my understanding - through reading through multiple publications and websites. However, realize, I am not an insider at Hewlett-Packard, so am not privy to day to day decisions. Just trying to be an informed person for various reasons.

Good Luck and Enjoy your move!

Default great new area prospect

They're planning on putting in, around this area, 1,or 2, film production companies: a major college campus, plus a state college campus, a major destination entertainment center that already includes a sports arena and event center, and the new downtown center that includes all the"downtown stuff" let's talk. patrick

Lions Gate is out, and Paramount never even looked at Rio Rancho. I'm not sure Rio Rancho can support the highrises mentioned either. They are 10 years, and about 100,000 people away from that.

I work with albuquerque planning (ACS).. we meet 3 times a week with rio rancho's planning commission..city council/mayor, so what makes you know more than i do, no offense.
Yes, they are planning for highrises(how does 4 years sound )
Yes, Paramount did meet with the mayor

Whats wrong with high-rises..rio rancho is expected to hit the big 100,000 next year?
Many small-mid sized cities from 100,000-300,000 have many highrises

We know, you've mentioned you work for the planning department at least five times since joining the forums. In what capacity to you work in? Besides, I was not trying to say I know more than you or that I'm an expert by any means. But these types of things make it to press at the same time people in planning are allowed to release the information. So either this is just talk of what they would like to do, or you are releasing information you shouldn't.

Either way, if you're right that is terrific and I'm all for it. But knowing ABQ, and the state of NM I'm a little more cautious when believing all these projects will come to fruition.

Well the press doesnt cover everything in the metro, if you wanna hear the plans for ABQ and Rio Rancho stay involved and attend the city council meetings! I'm not all talk..Havent you done any research on the Rio Rancho planned downtown area its going to be awhile before it all gets built but it will include tall buidings and lots of retail as well as a mall.
