Cheap motel for single female traveller?
OK, thanks to recent threads I have a great lists of restaurants other than the ones I know from previous visits -- thanks much!
Now -- motels. Im a 57-yr old single confident female traveller, and familiar with ABQ, although I havent been down for a while (I live in Canada). Im the sort of person who just wants a bed and a shower after a day out, nothing fancy and needs to be easy on the wallet. I am not at all afraid of Motel 6s, etc. Im just not sure about the best areas.
So . . . could you give me some suggestions for a place for 3 or 4 days? Thanks so much!
(please excuse the lack of apostrophes in the various contractions: Im quite literate, but the apostrophe key suddenly died in writing this message . . .)

When I stay overnight in Albuquerque, I have always stayed in the vicinity Of I-40 and Tramway at the Motel 6. The last time I was through there, I noticed that it had been bought out by Rodeway Inn, I believe. The price about a year ago was $29 a night, an extra $5 more on weekends. They're clean rooms, never had problems there, and restaurants are nearby. Hopefully a few of the locals can chime in here.

Look at the web page for Suburban Extended Stay motel: Weekly Rate Hotel Rooms - Suburban Extended Stay Hotels . Absolutely nothing fancy but it is more like a studio apartment and the price is right. It has a small kitchen so if you like to cook you can do that or at least do your own breakfasts. I've stayed there twice and will again. Location is easy access to I-40 and Nob Hill is a little farther down Carlisle.

There are a few places in the Candelaria and University area that look really cheap. Super 8 and a few others. The motel 6 is a bit south of candelaria on university.

I'm thinking the Desert Sands on Central @ Louisiana (or is it San Mateo?)... anyhow, they filmed part of the ending of No Country For Old Men there.

Motel 6 at 8510 Pan American Fwy is in a great area. Average price is $40 during the off-season (non balloon fiesta).

I concur with TrappedinNM, that is the Motel 6 I would recommend. All the other recommendations seem a bit seedy to me. Also, there are two La Quinta's (one's an old Baymont) that have fair prices off of San Antonio and I-25. The Ramada Limited North on Alameda is also reasonable.
Those would be my recommendations. Safe travels!!!

My wife and I once stayed at the Motel 6 just off of I-40 (near Lomas) for a 4-day visit pre-moving. It was fine. Clean. Relatively noise-free. Safe enough. It fit the bill. It was a) cheap, and b) near everything for newbies.
I would give it the thumb's up.

I'm single/female, stayed at the Studio 6 on Osuna, at the Osuna/I-25 exit. It's owned by Motel 6, but the Studio 6 properties are newer and are studio units, with full kitchen. It's clean, quiet, centrally located, VERY reasonably priced and I felt quite safe there. Even met a few of my neighbors while I was there. They have nightly and weekly rates.
Only negative is the mattresses are really hard.

before I moved here I would stay in the Super 8 Midtown(near Menaul and the Big I) from when I was a little kid all the way up into my mid 20's that was always the hotel of choice and I've never had a problem there, I enjoyed my stays everytime.
