My grandparents used to live on Apache Loop in RR.
Their home (as with all others on that street) was built approx. 1985. Very small homes, pretty large lots as I recall.
It was way out in BFE as I remember, and even looking at today's maps, it's still on the far fringes of RR. Expect to see a freeway running past there in the next 20 years, as Idalia is obviously set up to be a beltway.
Unless you're working in RR or not working, recommend you find a different neighborhood, unless you cherish the idea of bumper-to-bumper for 30 mins each way.

zoidberg, I am not sure that the post refers to Rio Rancho. She said around 4th, and se said Apache Loop SE. So I am not sure you are talking the same area.

Being in Rio Rancho there...you'll be safe and quiet. Not in the "thick of things" by any means, but certainly you can be via a 10 or 15 minute car ride.
A suburban, remote location, but not terribly far from the thick of ABQ either. If you are looking to live in the heart of Chicago / Manhattan, then you'd be disappointed. But if you are just looking to live somewhere respectably quiet, safe, affordable, and in the ABQ metro, then you'll be set.

Mapquest is being a bit generous with 30 minutes, depending on your shift. 30's probably about right if you aren't going with morning or evening rush. That's without a backup on the bridges.
I can't for the life of me figure out why you'd want to live 30 minutes from where you work. I mean, if there was a beach, or a river, or a trendy neighborhood there, or a brand new house, that might make some sense.
Cheap apts and houses can be found W of Carlisle, N of Candelaria, and E of I-25, all with a 5-minute commute. I'd be surprised if the cost in that area was more than $100/mo higher, which you wouldn't have to be blowing on $4/gal gas anyway.

haha yeah everyone keeps telling me 30mins is a long time but where i'm from it takes 30 mins from my house to the grocery store or to go to wal mart. so i'm used to it. right now we're trying to find some stuff closer like where you said zoidberg. so thank you very much!!
last time i was in albq, in june, the gas was a dollar cheaper then in cali where i live lol i was shocked!! =)

You're welcome. Lots of nice places in town.
I wonder... if nobody took 30 minute commutes for granted.. would there be any, and would traffic be anywhere near as bad?
The high-speed road ragey pace of life in places like LA, DC, and the bay area would probably slow down quite a bit if people lived (or were able to live) closer to their jobs.
So I guess it could be summed up as: if you don't commute so far, it not only improves the quality of your life, but the collective quality of our lives as well, by keeping Albuquerque slow (in a good way).
