Your post sounded like you were saying that we were crying wolf about water. I used the San Juan project as an example of our government addressing a real issue.

We looked at a house up on Camino de Las Huertas back in '06, and even up there I don't think the drive to the other side of I-25 would have been bad. Placitas just never really felt isolated to me, which I guess is a good thing.

I am a Placitas resident that goes to the county meetings to understand whats happening in our community.
The issue I am speaking of is a valid concern for residents. We are not crying foul. That land is currently zoned for residential development, just like the rest of most of Placitas with the exception of Homesteads area and the village area. We are not objecting to the landowners selling the land as currently zoned, which is accepted and welcome to Placitas.
We are objecting to the RE zoning of the land that includes residences density to be 7 times what is currently zoned for. Row style type homes on tiny postage stamp lots. They are also trying to slip in a 'professional' zone classification for offices or some such.
We already have commercial and professional zoning in other parts of Placitas that are not even built out to maximize those areas.
There is a huge issue with water, contrary to what the poster commented back to me.
Bottom line is that instead of selling the property subdivided into current zoning rules, which would make a huge bundle for the sellers, they want the county to re zone it so they can sell it for astronomical amounts with effects that will forever change the quality of life at the expense of residents in our community.
If people don't like Placitas, fine, have your opinion, I don't care what you think, don't come here. But don't speak for those of us that live here. We don't want our community turned into another cluster of screwed up development like the mess that is much orf Rio Rancho or some other areas around.
