Torrance (not Bernalillo as previously stated... honest mistake) county is officially... other.

Well how about C-D?!

Pop, Soda, or Coke?

I'm a Soda man myself, from a Pop family.

Make sure to check-out the map below...

Pop v. Soda v. Coke

Actually, that map shows Bernalillo county as decidedly "Coke". Tends to be frustrating when someone tells you they want a Coke, and you get them a Coca-cola, then they get mad at you:

"I wanted a Sprite!"

My question is:

What exactly is "other"? Torrance, Grant, and a couple other counties were decidedly "other". Perhaps a Torrance county resident can tell us what they call 'em?

In the NYC area you say coke when you want a coke. Soda is used for the general category.

I've never heard of the "coke" catch-all! But I do say soda .. pop is just too foreign to me.

Growing up in NY, One of my friends had a grandma who kept "seltzers" in the fridge. That meant Coke, 7up, etc. She was a Yiddish speaker for what it's worth. Seltzer is popular in New York though it usually means carbonated mineral-water sometimes with a slight flavouring.
