ABQNews - 5:55am -- Crackers For Lunch?

Story Excerpt:

Some parents upset when Kirtland Elementary School ran short of a real lunch this week.

About 40 Kirtland Elementary School students who were at the end of the lunch line on Wednesday were served four crackers and a tube of peanut butter when cafeteria personnel ran short on the regular lunch, the Farmington Daily Times reported.

The kitchen staff had prepared a normal lunch of popcorn chicken, oven roasted potatoes and cantaloupe but had run out by the time 30 to 40 fourth-graders showed up after noon, the Daily Times said.

"They were served crackers, peanut butter, milk and juice," Brock Smith, director of student nutrition for the Central Consolidated School District, told the paper.

Time for a new director of student nutrition! I hope they at least didn't have to pay for it.
