Question Sunroom builder / installer recommendations

We're considering a house on the west side that could really benefit from the extra space of a sunroom. The house has one long side,
about 30-35 feet, that is basically blank and just screams to have something done with it.

Anyone own a house with a large sunroom addition?

Anyone recently had one added?

Any dos or don'ts that you can pass on?

Thanks!

Mike

Default Wow, thought this thread was completely dead...

Thanks, Grafas. Who's doing your job? We went with Four Seasons over on Menaul and
by and large it's going well but I had to step in a couple times to prevent some serious mistakes
from being made, (like forgetting to remove inground sprinklers and to run a/c condensation drains before
pouring the concrete slab).

They were basically the fault of the original manager assigned to the project.
For whatever reason, he just couldn't be bothered so I finally threw a MAJOR
tantrum and had him removed. The new manager has been been pretty good
and the only real problem I've had is that I was unhappy with a messy caulking
job on the roof seams and that's being addressed.

The individual workmen and sub contractors have been just fine; hard working,
on time, polite and interested in doing the job right.

Here's a photo album I've been keeping of the job to date..

That's a lot bigger than I had in my mind. Looks great though. Are you having the bottom stuccoed to match your home?

Yes, the exterior of the knee wall will be stuccoed, but the interior walls will be
sheet rocked. The house wall will have a number of holes cut in it yet to mount the
split-type a/c and heating units, to redirect the drier vent, etc. and it will remain stucco
when its closed up.

The small room at the far end will be storage, the middle area an exercise room and
the near end past the room divider will be my office and hobby space. The existing house
windows will be replaced with glass block since that larger window is the guest bedroom.

This was quite a commitment so I guess you could say we've decided to stay despite the
horrifying lack of a convenient Nordstrom's

I guess we'll have to get our kicks in Stepney, not in Knightsbridge anymore..

(If you don't get that reference, you're WAY too young...)

Is that a London reference or a really really old American reference I don't know about?

****

Play With Fire...

Well, you've got your diamonds and you've got your pretty clothes
And the chauffeur drives your car
You let everybody know
But don't play with me, 'cause you're playing with fire

Your mother she's a heiress, owns a block in Saint John's Wood
And your father'd be there with her
If he only could
But don't play with me, 'cause you're playing with fire

Your old man took her diamonds and tiaras by the score
Now she gets her kicks in Stepney
Not in Knightsbridge anymore
So don't play with me, 'cause you're playing with fire

Now you've got some diamonds and you will have some others
But you'd better watch your step, girl
Or start living with your mother
So don't play with me, 'cause you're playing with fire
So don't play with me, 'cause you're playing with fire

*****

With all the recent hoo-rah over upscale shopping or the lack thereof,
it just came to mind..

Now PLEASE don't break my heart by asking who the Rolling Stones are...
