Default State Fair and Fireworks

I'm so excited, our first State Fair! I can't wait!

Any advice on what not to miss? And are there fireworks at night? I can't tell from the website.

If there are fireworks, anyone have a good viewing spot outside the fair? I'd like to see them as often as possible, but I don't want to pay every time.

Thanks!

LOL @ no one commenting on this. The state fair is pretty cool. I mean it lasts all month, so you can go pretty much whenever you want. the food is ok, they have fried everything. Rides, and all that good stuff. Too bad the racetrack and casino has to be located in a bad area. But with the Mayor we have, WHY wouldn't Albuquerque look nicer?

Bad area?

Yeah, horsetracks and casinos pull-in the most savory individuals (not).

the gangsta's were all out Saturday night and some of the girls looked like they were going to a car show dressed all skanky in heels walking in dirt, I dont know about some people, but I did see the police gang unit there.

Yeah, I was all about the Midway as a kid, but now I know why my parents hated it.

Yeah, but does the NM state fair have chocolate covered strawberry waffle bowls on a stick? The TX state fair has that food on a stick thing down to a fine art...a real science. I'm waiting for caramel covered fried cinnamon coated raman noodles on a stick

We went to the state fair yesterday and enjoyed it. We plan to go back another day.
I tried one of the turkey legs, it was pretty good, but not worth the $8 I paid for it. We plan to eat in the Indian Village when we go back. Also will rent a wagon for the munchkin to ride in, as that was alot of walking for a 4 yr. old, but he did very well.

$8 ?! Geez!

Maybe I'll skip dinner and go straight to dessert!

Sounds like a plan. I know I won't get one again at that price. We want to try some of the food in the Indian Village area instead.
