Hehe, well, we won't be able to celebrate too hard unfortunately, as the man works that night. As a truck driver, there will be absolutely no drinking for him that evening, and not too much feasting either lest he get too tired. Gawd I hate companies that make people work on holidays...

I probably would still go to the Downs versus Sandia or Isleta based on the fact that I was able to drink (woohoo!) and place my bets in the same area as the buffet.

No, actually, I meant the whole 'meaning' of Thanksgiving. Maybe it would be more appropriate, I don't know!

Going to be in Albuquerque for Thanksgiving, but have 2 kids -- any thoughts on where to eat? Do the casino restaurants allow kids?

Some of the best Thanksgiving dinners we've had were at a truck stop in Weatherford, TX, the Iron Skillet. All you can eat, something like $10 per person... Great food and lots of it and no clean up afterwards. Your husband might be tired of truck stop food and I really don't know of any out here but...

yes, the casino restaurants are open and some have pretty good food, plus you can play the slots or table games if you want for awhile.
I read your message about companies that make people work on holidays, I understand how you feel, we have had family members who have had to work on special days. My sister was a nurse, our granddaughter is in nursing school and will have to start working all holidays next year or most anyway, our daughter works for the airlines, has worked many holidays. It is tough, but life. The world can't shut down for 24 hours..

When we were kids our mother would work Christmas Day at the hospital to get the extra pay. Christmas was usually held over until the 27th. Very excited that she won't be doing that this year.

they do, you just can't stop to gamble. Most hotels have buffets and they are usually pretty good, but pricey..If you want to go, cheapo, try Furrs cafeteria or Home Town buffet..Not the best food, but certainly not awful either.
Happy Thanksgiving.
