HELP on pet friendly housing!
Hello all -
I am moving in less than two weeks, and my two housing options fell through - because apparantly a dog of 20 lbs. is unacceptable anywhere in ABQ.
I thought this town was pet friendly, perhpas it is - only to small dogs.
Can anyone suggest a complex or property company that is willing to work with a broader range of pet owners?
We have a 2 1/2 year old Golden Retriever and two years of positive pet references, but alas a "big" dog apparantly causes too many issues.
I have had small dogs in the past, and have had more issues with them than my golden.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
Thanks!

There are a few apartments/condos/townhomes here which take dogs which are 20lbs or less - how much does your dog weigh?

Broadstone at High Resort used to monitor dog weights but not anymore. They are located in Rio Rancho though, not ABQ.

We ended up going with a house because every apt we looked at/contacted that said they accepted "large" dogs had a 50 lb cap and ours weighs in at around 100 lbs.
Good luck, every house we looked at allowed pets of any size although there were restrictions on the breed (IE no rotts, dobermans, pits, etc).

I drive by a complex often that has a "pet friendly" sign. It is called Sunrise, Apartments for Rent and Resources for Finding Apartment Rentals Nationwide - ForRent.com. I looked it up in the yellow pages and it says: "pets welcome, no weight restrictions, 2 pets per apartment, $200.00 deposit". It seems pleasant enough. It is on the corner of Lomas and Tramway, opposite a library. Walking trails are close by. Hope this helps you!

I live at Tierra Antigua apartments and I don't think there is a pet size restriction. It's located in Northeast Albuquerque, and I always see owners walking their dogs during the day, and they're not all tiny dogs either!! Best bet is to call and ask what their pet policy (I have 2 cats so I know they allow 2 pets per apartment). If that doesn't work you could probably rent from a private home owner and they're usually more lenient since it's not an entire complex they have to keep track of.

Thanks for all your help, it is greatly appreciated. We put in a couple applications on some condo's in the NE that accept "large" dogs. If those fall through I guess it is the Extended Stay hotel for us until we find a place!
Thanks.
