Well, no. "South Valley" would not be subtracted from Albuquerque. It would be people living in the county who don't count toward Albuquerque's population.

"South Valley" also has quite a bit of industrial activity along the Broadway corridor, and there are a few big box stores making their way to the area, just outside current Albuquerque city limits.

Still, just like Rio Rancho was when it started, it's a losing financial proposition for city government.

No, as of now the South Valley is unincorporated, its population is put into county and not into ABQ's so ABQ's would remain the same, as far as I know.

and I didnt think they would want to change the name but the article mentioned that they dont have a name yet so they must be considering it.

Actually minus 30,000 but still thats lame,.. thats a big hell no for me, becuase obviously they dont even have enough money...

I hope they don't go with one of those lame California developer names like: 'Vista Grande' or 'Tierra del Oro'. I think everyone will be chuckling or rolling their eyes every time they hear what they're supposed to call the South Valley.

I think vista grande is actually really nice hahah, but south valley shouldnt be incorporated no is no! Tierra del ojo sucks tho.. something with a southwestern volcano desert feeling haha
