South Valley becoming its own city
South Valley may become a N.M. city
here is the link---
what do you think about this?
Should they rename it if it does become its own city or should it stay the South Valley

Sounds like a good idea to me!
I'm not sure I'd care for the name "south valley" though.

What I don't like about the idea:
*Plans to annex areas far, far west of the valley, effectively encompassing SW Albuquerque up to and past Central Ave.
*An additional conduit for sprawl-at-all-costs developers to put up more crackerbox instant-slums in the sticks. (Although out on Pajarito road, they take it to a whole new level..)
As far as the name "south valley", well, that's what everybody calls the locale. No other name would even come close to flying with its residents. Still, feel free to submit your own suggestions.

"We have $23 million, 23.5 million dollars in revenue potential for the city and expenses of approximately 33 million," said Jerome Padilla or South Valley Inc."
Starting a new city with debt?

Well like most new cities the first thing on the agenda will be to issues a crap load of bonds. They will contract all city services such as fire, police, water, and whatever else they need. All at very high rates which will pass on to all the residents. They will then proceed to pass all sorts of taxes laws to pay back the earlier mentioned bonds. there will most likely be a major box store drive to up tax revenue and real estate taxes will go up (if you can tax a shyte box). Hey go for it.

Civil policing works best when the police force is drawn from the community that is being policed. That is the scary thing about police forces recruiting from across the country.
