I certainly would try In-N-Out if they ever came to Albuquerque. I don't require green chile on my burgers, so that's no big deal to me. However, I do think Lotaburger makes the best green chile cheeseburger, and it's my favorite kind of hamburger. But, truthfully, I haven't had a Lotaburger in probably two years. I don't know why that is, but I've been wanting to eat there a lot lately. This talk of the quality going down hill since the ownership change makes me sad. I guess I'll have to see for myself.
Lotaburger is an institution. I remember when I was little, growing up fairly poor, we'd eat at the old drive-in style Lotaburger at Broadway and Gibson only very rarely and it was always a special occasion to us. I loved their strawberry shakes and fries especially. I remember us kids waiting in the car in the dirt parking lot while our parents got out and waited in line to place our order. They replaced that little old drive-in a long time ago with a drive-thru restaurant surrounded by grass and pavement.
Still, that particular location and the establishment hold fond memories for me that no other hamburger place could ever replicate. For that reason, if we ever do get In-N-Outs here, they'll never be as good to me as Blake's.
