I don't know if Rio Arriba County has ever gone for a Republican candidate. Their voting patterns mirror a northeast urban city.

So has much of the rest of the state. Idaho is the Neo-Nazi Skinhead compound capital of the U.S. and they went for McCain.
The fact of the matter is that I'm willing to bet most heroin addicts don't vote. Yet, Obama took Rio Arriba county quite handily.

I just moved here this year. I was in Florida for 6 years, Texas before that. Florida votes "blue" on the important local/state issues like minimum wage, green initiatives, etc. but the Prez race was another matter. Bush carried FL in 04 but I think mainly just because Kerry is such a cold fish. But they went blue last night  The "finally" part was more a reflection on me than NM
