Unique New Mexican gifts
Okay, so don't kill me for bringing up Christmas, but ...
I'm looking to bring some unique, local gifts for my foodie Californian friends and family members. What are some are your favorite New Mexican-inspired gifts to send to friends/family out of state?
I'm sure all us newbies on here will love to read your suggestions!
Thanks so much, Burque-ites.

That's funny. We just took a road trip up to Chimayo yesterday so I could make some deliveries and pick up Christmas gifts for our families. There are quite a few good local "mix" packs. Red & green chile stew and sauce mixes, biscochito mixes, blue corn tortilla mixes, etc. We're sending gift packs with some mixes, some smaller packs of New Mexico coffees in different roasts and flavors (we found mixed gift packs and we're breaking them up to send out.) and I'm going to make some tin ornaments. We hit Senior Murphey's in Santa Fe on the way back and picked up some pinon brittle, pinon rolls and a couple of their gift baskets to also break up and send out. If you wanted to stay in Albuquerque and do the same thing, you could hit Coronado Center. If you park at mall center and head East, there's a little Senor Murphey's on the left and a New Mexico store further down on the right. Plenty to choose from there, and you'll get hungry processing and packing it!

I'd say Chile Ristra, but my mother sent one to us in Houston and it arrived all moldy and disgusting.
Maybe if you dry it out first?

There are good New Mexico products at the following stores:
Chimayo:
Ortega's Gift Shop
Leona's Restaurant
Santa Fe:
Jackalope
as well as many places in the Plaza area
Albuquerque:
Old town shops
I think there is a Jackalope in the ABQ area too, isn't there? Perhaps in Bernalillo?

Thanks so much for the responses!
I love that most of you have included specific locations ... so I don't have to drive all around Albuquerque.
Thanks so much. Your suggestions are super helpful.

Pecans. New Mexico grows a lot -- I often send gifts from Stahmanns.

The ristras would make great gifts except they won't last at all in humid climates. Or go with plastic ones but that wouldn't be the same.
