Default What is your average electric/heating bill in ABQ?

I'm trying to figure out what the average electric/heating bill is for an Albuquerque home or apartment.

I searched for some answers on this topic, and found this thread, but people only discussed what their summer electric bill in that thread.

So, if you could reply with some information about your electric/gas/heating bills, I'd really appreciate it. Some of the things I'd be interested in hearing about are your:

-Average electric bill in the summer (please say if you use a swamp cooler or A/C)
-Average electric bill (plus gas bill if applicable) in the winter
-Your type of dwelling (apartment, townhouse, or house... and the number of bedrooms and square footage if you know it)

Thanks.

Here's a link to PNM's average Electricity use page:

Electric Rates Increase Request: Average Breakdown for Customers | PNM

Looks like the average electric bill during non-summer months is $65.49 (600 kwh)

Here's average Natural Gas:

Natural Gas Costs | PNM

Seems high to me. Anybody else have their bills from last year handy (maybe including your sq. footage might help... I promise not to rant about your large houses )

We are still considering a move to NM, I would love this information as well, we have until Jan 1 to give an answer.

Trying to desperately find out if the move will be worth it. Would love to move but need budget info.

Darlene

PNM sends a combined gas/elect bill. When we sold our house earlier this year, some buyers were interested in the avg. utility bill. Our combined bill was $56/mo. We had thought it would be slightly higher, maybe in the 70s?

The big difference for us was that we had some old-fashioned solar panels on our roof, which blew warm air into the house. Albuq has a lot of homes with these type panels. We never had the gas heat running except on the very coldest winter days, and of course, overnight. Our home was about 1550 sq.ft.

Another way to save money is to convert a grass yard to xeriscape - the city gives you a 40 cent/sq.ft. credit against your water bill. The catch is you can never convert your yard back to grass. But you can ride the credit for a year or two of free water.

They're breaking-off their Gas division. I wonder how that will affect prices.

My electric/gas/water bill here is half of what my electric bill was in Maine! I am sure we will see an increase as the furnace is now on, but I don't expect to be paying $500/month to heat this place!

For what its worth, my husband is making 30 cents/hr less, but making more money. Your dollar goes further out here.

I'm in Rio Rancho and we pay $282 a month on the budget billing for gas and electric combined. Our insulation sucks, though! Our house is 3000 sq ft.

Almost forgot to say we have an a/c.
