I thought the university had their own temp pool, at least the last time I looked at the HR pages for UNM, that is what it appeared to be.
Perhaps they utilize placement agencies as well, not sure.

UNM has their own temp pool, you have to apply on-line. Takes a good half hour and registration is good for 6 months. Unfortunately, they require the same qualifications for a temp job as the job would require for a permanent placement.

General Mills to Albuq.
Don't know if it's been on the threads yet, but here's the latest company to relocate/expand to Albuq.
"General Mills Plans $100 Million Expansion
General Mills is investing about $100 million in an expansion of its Albuquerque plant. Minneapolis-based General Mills selected Albuquerque , NM over eight other cities. The plant currently employs approximately 190 people and the new addition will add about 160,000 square feet and 60 more people. The plant will focus on the manufacturing of snack products. The company has reported that net sales for its snack division increased by 12 percent in fiscal year 2008 – led by Nature Valley granola bars and Fiber One bars."

I had an offer from Eclipse Aviation and turned it down. It seems it was a good move on my part as their not doing too well now. But overall the jobs scenario seems to be ok based on some online searching and newspaper reading...

Just trying to assist folks and make certain that they are adequately informed about Albuquerque before relocating here. They certainly will not get truthful information about what is actually going on in Albuquerque from this site; it's good to have access to all types of information so that one may make an informed decision.
I do not own stock in the site I mention; I simply find it informative. The site manager and most of those who post on DCF are well informed about the good and the bad that go on in Albuquerque.
Now, if I could only find a site explaining how corrupt realtors, contractors, and city officials are in Albuquerque I would send them there as well.

I think that would be helpful for any city and almost every profession.

Hold on dude!
I'm as truthful about ABQ as anybody out there! Just becasue you are less than impressed with our fair city does not make your opinion some how more valid than anyone else's.
Take you're jaded views of this great city somewhere else! Better yet, keep them to yourself!
Do ABQ a favor and leave!

Job Market
If you don't have to move, I would wait until the economy is in better shape. Very few businesses are spending money if they don't have to and I know several people that have either lost their job or taken pay cuts. Overall there are businesses closing up from lack of business. If you are looking to buy a home, there are some great deals out there. I know Eclipse has fallen on hard times, Mervyns and Linens & Things are closing causing more workers to hit the job market. I would try to land a job before coming unless you are out of work already. Fidelity Investments and HP are coming with jobs, so it might create an opportunity there.
Good luck.
